         “Dr Nitin Kashinath Raut (born 9 October 1952) is an Indian politician, businessman and social activist from Maharashtra. He was a former Cabinet Minister with the Energy profile in the last MVA Government of Maharashtra. During his tenor of ministriship from 2008 he had handled the various ministry portfolio’s in the state.

Presently, Member of Legislative form North Nagpur constituency for Indian National Congress Party.  He was Chairman AICC (All India Congress Committee) – SC CELL. As a most senior leader in Congress form the Maharashtra, AICC had always appreciate his work and gave important responsibilities. Dr. Nitin Raut is always the public face and strong voice for the Vidarbha State. Dr. Nitin Raut, AICC observer for Uttarakhand State, and also Gujrat, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and many more.

He was elected to the Member of Legislative Assembly from North Nagpur constituency from Nagpur district consecutively from the year 1999, 2004 and 2009 elections. As of 2014 he served as a Maharashtra Cabinet Minister for Employment Guarantee Scheme and Water Conservation. He was former Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries, Home, Jail, State Labor and Excise Department.

Dr. Nitin Raut as a socialist, he always believes to help to the poor and needy people of North Nagpur, State and the country. He carries out social work through ‘SANKALP’, an NGO that works to aid Dalits and other downtrodden people. It provides relief to victims of natural and man-made calamities such as floods and communal riots” from last more than 40 years
